Moonlight in the Cathedral with Mark Coughlan

On 10 May, renowned concert pianist Mark Coughlan will play one of the world’s most exquisitely crafted pianos – the Fazioli concert grand. It takes two years to produce one Fazioli piano – hand-crafted in Italy with obsessive attention to detail. Fazioli technicians and artisans work with passion, regarding each piano as a unique and precious object destined for the world’s great stages.

Mark Coughlan travelled to Venice to select the instrument best suited to the cathedral acoustic. This concert marks the official launch of the piano, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Zenith Music, who assisted the Cathedral with the purchase of the piano along with Snadens Pianos and private donors.

Mark has chosen pieces filled with colour, lyricism and drama, including Beethoven’s famous Moonlight Sonata, to show off the instrument’s extraordinary range and majestic tone.
